Fit Bit Bracelet Pattern

So I asked my Facebook fans ( if they’d be interested in a freebie pattern to crochet a bracelet for their fit bits…the answer was YES!  It is a very, very simple pattern and works up quickly. It’s so basic, I decided to just throw it in my blog for you :-)  Keep in mind I have the Fitbit Flex.

-G hook
-Sport Weight yarn in any color

Row 1:  Ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across remaining sts.  (12)

Row 2-31:  Ch 1, turn and sc across.  (12)

Now check to make sure it wraps around your wrist with the edges just meeting.  If need be, add or subract a couple rows. I have fairly small wrists, but keep in mind, it will have some stretch.  If you are making this for your ankle, you will probably have to add several more rows.

Once you have the right length, line both ends up, ch 1 and sc them together all the way across.  Finish off and weave in your ends.  Turn it inside out so the seam is on the inside, then move onto the pocket.

-G hook
-Sport Weight Yarn in same or contrasting color

Row 1:  Ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across remaining sts.  (5)

Row 2-9:  Ch 1, turn and sc across.  (5)

Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing. Position the pocket on the front of the band, centered in the middle, your fit bit will lay in there horizontally. Sew down the side, bottom, and other side. When you get to the top, sew only about a 3rd, leave a 1/2″ opening, weave your tail to the the last 3rd of the top and sew that closed too. I went around a second time just to be safe.  Weave in your ends and you’re done.

I know it’s kind of hard to see the pocket because I did mine all black.  When you wear it, make sure the small opening is facing up.  You will slide the bit in vertically and just wiggle it down into the opening till it’s laying horizontally. I wore mine all day and it was so much more comfortable than the regular bracelet.  I made mine into an anklet as I’m often carrying a toddler around.

I will be experimenting some more fit bit patterns so stay tuned. Also, please let me know how this pattern works for you! I love feedback and pics from my fans.

The fun of this week

So I haven’t been around much this week because Sunday night at 1030 a tree crashed on to my house.  and I’m not talking about a little tree, I’m talking about a huge tree. We were all very lucky and nobody was hurt. It did not crash through the inside of the house. No I feel like God is watching out for us because it should have crashed through the house. It did crash to our back porch a little bit, so that will be repaired. We had to pay for tree removal guys come out. Which will mostly be reimbursed by the insurance company minus our deductible.

It was a very scary experience. Both kids were asleep in their cribs. Derrek and I were getting ready for bed. The noise started off as a light crackling which I thought was fireworks because we have weirdo neighbors who like to set off fireworks at random times. Then cracking got quite a bit louder and I jumped up off the couch. Then the tree hit it was the loudest noise I have ever heard in my life. I was standing about 6 inches in front of the couch and the impact of the tree made the couch jump into the back of my legs.  Derrek immediately yelled for me to check olivia’s room because she knew it was the tree. I cannot describe the terror I felt as I ran into my daughters room praying to god that my daughter was safe, envisioning the worst. And theee I saw my sweet daughter lying on her back snoring away. No tree. I scooped her up and laid her on my bed. I kissed her and thanked the Lord for proctecting her.

In the dark of the night we couldn’t see much. Just a huge tree resting over her room, the dining room and kitchen.  I went into autopilot emergency mode and packed two bags with everything I could think of. Then we hauled ass to a hotel for the night. The kids were emotional from seeing the pure fear on our faces amd could not fall asleep till 1am.

The next day we moved into my Mother in Laws basement which is bigger than our house and set up like an apartment.  Thank God for her providing some normalcy in the midst of pure chaos. They think we’re just vacationing.

Now we are going through the rigamaroll of tree removal and insurance adjusters. It’s very stressful but my amazing husband is dealing with it all while trying to put in at least 40 hrs at work so we don’t suffer a small paycheck. All the while I am trying not to panic and keep the kids happy.

So many people have helped us and made it known they will do anything they can to help. I thank God for each and everyone of them loving us.

I just hope thos doesn’t end up putting us even further back financially. We are already struggling. But we will figure it out, we have all that matters. Our lil family, extended family and friends. Many people would be angry or feel wronged. I feel blessed. Blessed because I still have my kids and husband.  Without them my life would cease to matter.

Time To Ramble

I have a few custom orders to crochet.  2 scarves, 2 minion hats, and a queen size afghan!  I finished one of the scarves today and I’m really happy with it.  It was a new pattern for me from the book The New Crochet by Terry Taylor.  Nice book, has cute but sophisticated patterns, some funky ones, but easy to follow instructions.  You don’t always get that so I appreciate it.  Here’s the scarf:

scarf 1 scarf 2

It was a real quick work up and that’s always a bonus with 2 young’uns.

Alright I need to start cleaning my nasty, nasty house because it smells like something died in here…I’m kind of afraid I will actually find something dead.  Pray for me *shudders*
